Nowadays the computers are inter connected together for resource sharing and do work together. This interconnection is known as ―computer networks‖. Since the number and size of the computer network is increasing day by day maintenance and security of the computer network become a risk. Large organizations have their own internal network and there are large no of public network too. Internet is an example of such a huge public network. Since the public networks are free to use, there is lot of security issues are occurring through this medium. For a large network, Attacks can’t be detected using any sort of packet sniffing tools or any type of IDS. In this case visualizing the network data will become so handy for analysis and detection of various network attacks. The project is about building a tool called ―secVizer‖ which is a security visualization tool, which take network logs as input and will create different visual representation of the input data in order to analyse and find out the security threats in the network. This tool can show both dynamic and static graph based on the input of the tool. The tool will plot static graphs from already saved log files. It also have the options to plot dynamic graph for dynamic analysis of the network. This report contain a detailed study of visualization techniques, different protocols used by the network, different network attacks and the resultant visual representation created by the proposed tool for different attack scenarios stimulated using network attacks tools in a local network. It also compresses of a comparison study of graphs plotted under normal and attack scenarios This secVizer tool is a unique tool that uses different network visualization techniques on the given data to produce graphs. It can plot sniffer files already saved in a local drive and also have the ability to plot dynamically. The result of the project shows a good sign of using it as a successful network visualization tool for smaller and even larger network ER -
